Actress Jun Amaki has announced that she will retire from gravure modeling this year. The performer, who made her modeling debut in Weekly Playboy in 2014, was also an early member of the Akihabara-based idol group Kamen Joshi and has recently become more active in traditional acting roles.
In a social media post on March 29, Amaki thanked fans for their support and promised the news was not an April Fool’s joke. She is in the process of completing her final photo shoots for and will hold a “Gravure Graduation Photoshoot Event” on June 7.

Amaki, who recently turned 30, stated that she feels she has accomplished all her goals in modeling and is looking forward to new challenges. Weekly Playboy posted an interview on their website in which she describes how gravure helped her overcome her childhood shyness and how she experienced periods of extreme dieting that affected her physical and mental health.
After becoming one of Japan’s leading gravure models, Amaki has branched out into professional mahjong competitions, variety show hosting, stage plays, and film/television appearances in Baby Walkure Everyday!, Love Will Tear Us Apart, Yume Kanaeru Sauna, among others.
