Hot new boy band XY, produced by YOSHIKI, dropped the surprise single “Crazy Love (XIV Version)” on January 27, and the song has already hit #1 on Japan’s iTunes Alternative Chart.
The “XIV version” features newly-added 14th member Yuya Tegoshi. The band announced the song at the January 26 final performance of their “1st ONE-MAN TOUR 2025 KALEIDOSCOPE” at Zepp DiverCity in Tokyo, also revealing that their first full album will be released in June.

Last year, YOSHIKI and XY were at the center of a major controversy when Tegoshi was suddenly added to the band’s lineup in the second-season premiere of the talent competition show YOSHIKI SUPERSTAR PROJECT X. The program’s first season followed the selection of the band members under the supervision of YOSHIKI (with celebrity judges such as KISS’s Gene Simmons) and become the No. 1 variety program on NTV and Hulu Japan.
When Tegoshi – previously a member of the Johnny & Associates’ boy band NEWS – joined the up-and-coming XY, YOSHIKI shared his frustration with his fans via his official X account, stating that he might be forced to quit his position as producer. However, after intense conversations with the network and the band members, YOSHIKI stated that he had reached an agreement with all parties involved and would continue to guide XY’s development.
