Following in the footsteps of Abel Ferrara’s Bad Lieutenant (1992, starring Harvey Keitel) and Werner Herzog’s Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans (2009, starring Harvey Keitel), acclaimed director Takashi Miike has been announced as the director of Bad Lieutenant: Tokyo, slated to begin production this year.
The U.S.-Japan co-production will star Shun Oguri in the title role as a corrupt gambler in the Metropolitan Police Force who becomes involved with an FBI agent (Lily James) who comes to Tokyo to investigate the disappearance of a politician’s daughter (Liv Morgan).
