
Hokuto Matsumura of SixTONES and Mio Imada have been cast as co-leads in the live-action film adaptation of the novel The Swan and the Bat (Hakucho to Komori) by bestselling mystery author Keigo Higashino. The film is scheduled for release in Japan on September 4, 2026.
Matsumura portrays Kazuma Kuraki, the son of a murder suspect, and Imada plays Mirei Shiraishi, the daughter of the victim. The narrative follows the two characters as they begin to doubt the official resolution of a murder case and seek to uncover the truth behind their fathers’ actions.

Higashino’s novel has sold over 1.5 million copies in Japan, and the author has described it as one of his most significant works. The film will be directed by Yoshiyuki Kishi (Wilderness: Part One, Ab)Normal Desire, Double Life) with a screenplay by Kosuke Mukai, the Japan Academy Film Prize Best Screenplay winner for A Man.
