Fuji TV has announced Umi Shinonome will join the cast of the police drama Tokyo P.D. (aka Tokyo MPD PR Unit 2).
Shinonome will play Yuka Tanaka, a reporter in the social affairs department of Toto Television, whose interactions with Shuji Tokinaga (played by Terunosuke Takezai) will play an important part in the series.
Shinonome commented, “After reading the script, I was drawn in by the highly social themes and the realism of the relationship between the Metropolitan Police Department’s public relations department and the reporters. This will be my first appearance in a Fuji TV drama series, and I’m looking forward to taking on the role of reporter Tanaka Yuka with sincerity and playing a part in the story.”

Shinonome previously appeared in Oshi ga Ujini Narisimashite Full Throttle (October 2025 / TV Tokyo) and Yonimo Kimyo na Monogatari (November 2025 / Fuji TV). This will be her first appearance in a Fuji TV serial drama.
