Actress and model Jun Amaki will join the ±0 theatre company’s stage production of playwright Jukichi Biyakuyaku’s Zou (Elephant) at Zamza Asagaya in Tokyo from September 22 to September 30, 2023. Directed by Hiroya Tahara, the production marked the seventh main performance by ±0, known for its abstract and socially focused theatrical works.

Zou centers on an extended interaction between an ailing former carnival figure and his nephew, revealing tensions between static contemplation and active engagement with life, while secondary characters reflect broader societal contexts within the narrative.

Amaki will join a cast including Katsuhide Suzuki and Toshiya Sakai, among others, portraying characters whose interactions explore existential themes. Director Tahara commented, “This production feels like it is asking those of us living in the present an unending question with no clear answer. It is a work that makes you think rapidly about many things after it ends. Please come to the theater and witness it for yourself. We look forward to seeing you.”

Amaki spoke about her acting goals in our 2019 interview – read it here!
